Lucky Phoenix BirdhouseWhere the birds are more spoiled than the spouse | ||
AdviceDont be fooled. Some people will have a bird for sale like a cockatiel and say it is a certain mutation when it really isnt or it is only part. for an example. someone might have a gray with a slightly green tail and say it is an olive, when in fact olives have alot more green and arnt dark gray at all more of a pastel. Or someone might say they have a fallow cockatiel when in fact they have a dark lutino. fallows are light brown there only yellow is on there head VERY easy to tell apart from a lutino. And there is a diffence between a pied and a yellow-crown. So please if you are buying a bird make sure you see the bird in person before buying so you know pictures arnt edited and so you can make sure the bird is healthy. and make sure you do your research before hand! Please if you buy or get ANY bird READ about it. Any bird at all finch-macaw. Reading will help you understand the bird. and will help you better care for it which will make the bird happy and healthy. Plus if you have a book if any problems like behavior come about it will be a good thing to turn to. Barrons books are good, thats what i use myself. Also if your going to start breeding, or handfeeding READ! i see so many people all the time that dont know what they are doing and the birds they have are sick or arnt tame or arnt clean because the people arnt educated in taking care of there bird. And whenever you get a bird ASK QUESTIONS a good breeder or pet store will gladly take questions! Please make sure that if you get a bird that you have an AVIAN vet ready. one that you can turn to for problems. sometimes problems will arise so quickly that if you do not have an avian vet the bird would have to suffer. Avian vets arnt expencive. Ask your breeder or pet store where they go. or research online to find one near you. I personally use Dr. Kinney at the Poland Animal Hospital here in maine. hes the best i have found in maine and new hampshire. If you have a bird and live near poland maine his number is 998-2444. Careful when shipping, If you are having a bird shipped make sure the breeder is real. there is alot of scam out there and it is easy to lose out. also shipping birds can be dangerus so make sure your breeder knows what they are doing so it will be the least stress on the bird. |
Bird Information The yellow-crown cockatiel is a new mutation. It has always been out there but it was known as a pied. The diffrence is Pied's have random colorings and marking, Yellow-Crowns have a beautiful yellow crown, a yellow necklace marking and sometimes yellow on there rump. As i said they have always been out there but I feel i have perfected the markings and i gave it a name. here are some pictures of the mutation.
Olive or Emerald Cockatiel Alot of people dont think that this cockatiel exists. because it is so rare. Some people who do call it olive others call it emerald. I know it exists because i have 2. Viper who is paired with a Yellow-crown and then Hershey who I took out of a bad home. His old owner thought he would make good friends with a husky and now hershey only has one leg. I am not 100% sure what the females look like because i have never come across one. but the males are a pastel gray with almost a tint of green. Tails are green as well. The babys that come from Viper usally have greenish faces as well. here are some pictures of what the males look like.
